# What is it about?

Ideas and approaches are visualized in the Design Studio. The team inspires each other with simple scribbles and graphics. Great ideas are created in several iterations. The evaluation of ideas is also included in this workshop format.

# The goal

Develop and visualize concrete ideas in a short time.

# How to do it?

  1. The basis is a challenge or inspiring question (e.g. according to How-might-we). All participants should have a common understanding of the goal.
  2. The participants outline their solutions on sheets of paper. Either individually or in pairs. The following applies: drawing before writing, messy is okay. Five minutes can be given for this.
  3. The sketches are presented to the team one after the other and hung up next to each other (3-5 minutes per person).
  4. When all the sketches have been shared, each participant marks the best solutions with two sticky dots. These can be whole sketches or just parts of them.
  5. Then all participants create a second version of their solution approach, using the inspiration they have received from the other approaches and the voting.
  6. Present and share the sketches again.
  7. Voting as in step 4.
  8. Further iteration or creation of a joint team solution sketch.

# When do you need it?

With the Design Studio, individual ideas and approaches can be brought to the team and transferred step by step into a joint solution.

# Resources

  • A4 sheets, pens
  • metaplan board/wall surface and adhesive strips to hang up the sketches
  • sticky dots
  • timer

# Advantages

By exchanging ideas as a team, the entire creative potential of the group is utilized and yet the ideas of individuals are given sufficient space. The playful approach is fun and can also be seen as a team-building activity.

# Disadvantages

Due to the clearly structured and therefore less flexible process, unconventional ideas may not be sufficiently taken into account.

# Keep in mind

Pay attention to timeboxes for the creation of sketches. It is not about perfect solutions, but about quickly sharing ideas within the team and developing them further in short iterations. It can be helpful to involve people who are not otherwise involved in the design thinking process.
